Low Battery Mode
Low Battery Mode is a Launcher feature that notifies the user when the battery level of a device drops to a configured percentage.
Overview
Real-time enterprise mobile analytics is critical for retail, trade, transportation, or any organization within the mobile ecosystem. Low Battery Mode is a Launcher feature that helps keep track of the battery percentage and charging status of shared-user Android devices involved in critical business functions. This feature warns users when a device's battery falls below a configured percentage and advises them to place the device on the charging cradle.
User Guide
Low Battery Mode provides a granular view of the enterprise Android devices' battery life and enables IT administrators to proactively manage battery-related issues that could affect critical business functions.
If this feature is enabled in the configuration, the device will enter Low Battery Mode as soon as the battery level falls below 10%.
The message ‘Low Battery detected. Put the device on a charger.’ will be displayed on the screen to prompt the user to start charging the device.
Once the battery level reaches 15%, the device will exit Low Battery Mode and resume functionality.
Accessing Device Details
When a device enters Low Battery Mode, services such as Wi-Fi network access, GPS location services, and BLE beacons will continue to run in the background. This will provide accurate, real-time information on the location and proximity of the devices which can be viewed from the Device Finder and Portal.
Feature Configuration
To set up Low Battery Mode for a particular device profile or device group, please follow the steps below:
Enabling Low Battery Mode
Low Battery Mode feature can be enabled or disabled within the Launcher configuration. If useLowBatteryMode is set to true, the device enters Low Battery Mode.
Setting Up Low Battery Mode Start Level and End Level
If useLowBatteryMode is enabled, the device will enter Low Battery Mode as soon as the battery life falls to a level defined in lowBatteryModeStartLevel. The device will exit Low Battery Mode as soon as the threshold of battery life reaches the percentage defined in lowBatteryModeEndLevel.
For example, if lowBatteryModeStartLevel and lowBatteryModeEndLevel are configured at 8% and 20%, respectively, the device will enter Low Battery Mode once it drops to 8% battery capacity and exit Low Battery Mode as soon as it goes up to 20% battery capacity.
Default Configuration
If there are no configured low battery mode thresholds defined, the default settings are:
lowBatteryModeStartLevel = 10
lowBatteryModeEndLevel = 15 (i.e. lowBatteryModeStartLevel + 5)
Full Configuration
If the property findMeBatteryLevelWarning is configured from the BlueFletch Support Application at 15%, it will play an alert tone on a device once the battery capacity reaches 15%.
If useLowBatteryMode is enabled, the device will enter or exit Low Battery Mode once the battery level reaches a configured percentage.
If lowBatteryModeStartLevel is set at 10%, the device will enter Low Battery Mode once the battery level falls to 10%. If lowBatteryModeEndLevel is set at 20%, the device will exit Low Battery Mode once the battery level goes up to 20%.
Low Battery Mode was introduced in Launcher 3.14.4.
